The Costa Blanca or White Coast, stretches from Valencia to Murcia. It is one of mainland Spain's top tourist destinations with its 160-kilometre stretch of coastline and has something to offer for everybody. To the north of the city of Alicante, the region is a popular tourist region with Benidorm being the best known beach resort. To the south you will find many other beaches like the ones at Campomoar, Torre De La Horadada and El Mojón which is situated adjacent to the Mar Menor. Most of the coastline itself has now been developed to meet the needs of mass tourism. One of the big attractions of the Costa Blanca for many holidaymakers is that it offers both an action-packed beach scene and a breathtakingly beautiful hinterland which is a paradise for hikers, climbers, nature lovers and those who simply want to sample a taste of the "real Spain". It certainly enjoys an enviable climate that attracts a year-round holiday trade with average temperatures ranging from 16ºC in winter to 32ºC in summer and the sun generally shines for more than 315 days a year.
The region is well connected by motorway with Madrid in the heart of Spain and by air with its airport in Alicante (El Altet). There are also ferries directly to Marocco from the port of Alicante.
 Southern Alicante
The inland town of Orihuela and the coastal Torrevieja are probably the main references on the map of most. Torrevieja is surrounded by salt lakes which are home to a variety of wildlife including pink flamingos that are protected within the La Mata nature reserve. The town has a large marina, fun fair, promenande which is bustling from early evening with street artists and stalls, a harbour walk and abundant bars, shops and restaurants. Going further South we find some prestigious areas like La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Campoamor to finally end at El Mohon.
