Playa Honda
Playa Honda or Honda beach is situated on the Southern end of the unique Mar Menor in Murcia, near the village of Cabo de Palos and in front of the regional natural park Calblanque at the entrance of La Manga or “The Strip”. From the airport of San Javier it is some 20 miles and similar to the city of Cartagena. As the name of Playa Honda already indicates the area and most of its developments are next to the clear waters of the Mar Menor. As it is an area which is only recently being developed you will find large spaces between the different developments. Certainly outside the main season this is a place to relax, enjoy the views, make long walks or undertake a bicycle ride in Calblanque. The summer is of course the best period to wind down on the beach, enjoy a drink on a terrace and watch surfers and sailors, as this is a famous area for all kind of water sports. It is also an ideal place to bring children because of the calm and shallow water. Nightlife and a large choice of restaurants are just a small drive away in La Manga or the village of Cabo de Palos and for those who really want to indulge the famous La Manga Club. The village of Los Alcazares with its long boulevard, some 20 minutes drive away, is another option.
Playa Honda is easy to reach from the motorway AP7 Alicante – Cartagena, turn off to the MU312 towards La Manga at some 14 km from Cartagena and then exit 11 to Playa Honda. The sign posting will then take you straight to the coast.
